Penn Yan: Warren C. Johnson Sr., age 82, of Penn Yan, NY died Wednesday March 28, 2018 at home.

Friends are invited to calling hours from 5-8 pm Tuesday (April 3) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where his funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday (April 4) with Lay Pastor Lew Ann Giles officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee.

Warren was born August 4, 1935 in Little Marsh, PA, the son of Curtis C. and Lillian Mae {Shaw} Johnson. He graduated from Dundee Central School in 1953. He worked for the Town of Starkey for one year before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1955 he retired 12 years later after being injured in the Philippines in 1967. After 3 years of recuperation he went to work for his father, before buying his own farm, which he worked until 1977. On March 23, 1979 in Dresden, NY he married the former Martha A. Valerio. Besides his cattle farm, he also was a fur buyer from 1970-1981 when he retired fully.

Mr. Johnson was a member of the N.Y.S. American Legion, a former member of the Himrod Conservation Club, the NRA, the Penn Yan Country Club, and Watkins Glen Golf Club. He loved golf, playing in golf leagues, and was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying both hunting and fishing.

He is loved and will be dearly missed by his wife of just 39 years, Martha A. Johnson at home; 3 sons Eugene Allen (Yong) Johnson of Penn Yan, Warren C. "Bubby" (Lori) Johnson, Jr. of Himrod, Richard A. Mosier of Penn Yan; 2 daughters Cathy M. (Skip) Earl of Penn Yan, and Kimberly A. (Dirk) Glen of Durham, NC; 2 brothers Robert (Pam) Johnson of Keuka Park, Lester D. Johnson of Wayne, 4 sisters Frances Hodge of Wayne, Betty Conrad of Dresden, Nancy Johnson of Bloomfield, NY, Joanne (Dave) Williamson of Watkins Glen; 12 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was pre-deceased by a daughter Karen M. Snyder in 2009, a brother Darwin Johnson, and 2 sisters Shirley Berquist, and Carol Plante.
