Marjorie C. Fowler Dundee/Glenora: Marjorie C. Fowler, age 96, currently of Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility, of Glenora, Dundee, NY passed away Thursday February 19, 2015 in Montour Falls, NY. Honoring her wishes there will be no prior calling hours. Friends are invited to a memorial services which will begin with a service by the Order of the Eastern Star at 11:30 am on Saturday March 7, at the Barrington Community Church, Old Bath Rd., Dundee with Rev. Gerald Vanaman and Rev. Jane Winters officiating. The family will receive guests following the service. Inurnment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee, NY in the spring. Memorial contributions may be made to Dundee Emergency Squad, 12 Union St., Dundee, NY 14837. Marjorie was born July 19, 1918 in Elmira, NY, a twin daughter of the late Harry W. and Jennie Marjorie Beers Carpenter. She graduated from Watkins Glen high School in 1937, and from Elmira Business Institute in 1939. She worked for a short time at Lakemont Academy. On August 31, 1940 in the Dundee Methodist Church she married the late Ashby R. Fowler, who passed away on April 3, 1996. A life long local resident and the oldest living resident of Glenora, she had wintered in Florida throughout the 1980's and 90's. Mrs. Fowler was very active in the community, having attended the Lakemont Congregational Christian Church, the Barrington Community Church, was Past Grand Chaplin of the Grand Chapter O.E.S. State of New York 1983; Past Nobel Grand of the Martha Washington Rebekah Lodge in Weathersfield, CT; was a former member of the former Crystal Valley Grange, and the Yates Co. Pamona Grange, and New York State Grange, was a founding member of the Penn Yan Friendship Squares; a Past President of the Lakemont Ladies Aid Society, and a former Assistant Girl Scout Leader. In her spare time, she was a talented craftswoman with knitting, crochet, and quilting; having made 19 bed size quilts over her lifetime. She is loved and will be missed by a daughter Idelle M.(John) Bowles of Clifton Springs, NY, a son Heman A. (Carol) Fowler of Big Flats, NY; 6 granddaughters Lori (Tony) Nazos of Chicago, IL, Heather (Craig Radnitz) Fowler of Santa Marie, CA, Jennifer (Andrew) Wilcox of Gilford, VT, Elaine (Robert) Mallory of Baldwinsville, NY, Angela (Brent) Conklin of Horseheads, NY, Kelly (Mike) Shaban of Pittsboro, NC; 7 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was pre-deceased by a daughter and son in law Jennie E. & William Meinen, and her twin sister and her husband Marian C. & Charles Raymond "Buster" Brewer Jr. Arrangements are by the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee.
