Elizabeth D. ''Betty'' Bailey Penn Yan: Elizabeth D. ''Betty'' Bailey, age 96, of Penn Yan, NY passed away peacefully on Thursday September 22, 2016 at the Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home, in Penn Yan, N.Y. Honoring her wishes there are no prior calling hours. A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at 11:00 am Saturday (Oct. 1) at the Milo Center Methodist Church, 1415 Milo Center Rd., Penn Yan with Rev. Della Ludwig officiating. Inurnment will be in Hillside Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Milo Center Methodist Church 1415 Milo Center Rd. Penn Yan, the Humane Society of Yates County, P.O. Box 12, Penn Yan, or to Manor Crest Foundation, 411 Clinton St., Penn Yan, N.Y. 14527. "Betty" was born June 11, 1920 in the Town of Seneca, NY, one of 3 daughters of the late Clifford and Frances Jayne Dimon. She graduated from Geneva High School in 1939, and attended Business School a few years later. She worked in the secretarial field in Veteran Services at Sampson, Seneca Army Depot, the Canandaigua VA, and lastly the Bath VA; before marrying Howard E. Bailey on June 10, 1950 in Flint, NY. Happy to be a farm wife, she worked alongside her husband on their "Windway Farm" in Dundee until they sold the farm in 1987; and built their retirement home on City Hill Rd. Howard passed away on July 23, 1995. Mrs. Bailey had been a devoted long time member of the Dundee United Methodist Church, transferring her membership to the Milo Center Methodist Church in 2012. She had been a member of the Crystal Valley Grange, Cooperative Extension, and a 4-H leader for many years. In her spare time she enjoyed gardening, bird watching, and loved animals. She is loved and will be dearly missed by her 3 daughters Linda J. Collins of Penn Yan, Carol A. Debertolis of Sloansville, NY, Janet B. Johncox of Penn Yan; a grandson Jason J. Debertolis of Gouverneur, NY; a granddaughter Ann Marie (Shaun) Pangman of Sloansville; 2 great granddaughters Addison and Isabele Pangman; a brother Leonard (Wendy) Dimon of Geneva; 2 sisters Viola Ciancaglini also of Geneva, and Evelyn Pelmear of Hampton, VA; along with numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was pre-deceased by 2 son-in-laws John Debertolis in 1996, Paul Collins in 2015, and 2 brothers Ivan and Erwin Dimon.
