Charles Earl Sipley Jr.

Dundee: Charles Earl Sipley Jr., age 73, of Dundee, NY passed away unexpectedly on Sunday February 5, 2023 at home.

Calling hours will be from 3:00 -5:00 p.m. Friday (March 3) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee, NY; where a memorial service with Military Honors will be held at 5:00 p.m. A Celebration of His Life will be held at the convenience of the family in the warmer weather.

Charles was born Dec. 18, 1949 in Newton, NJ, the son of the late Charles E. and Myrtle (Swartz) Sipley Sr. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1967, serving in Vietnam; and received a Purple Heart, and a Bronze Star, before being Honorably Discharged in 1970. April 18, 1970 in Swartswood, NJ, he married the former Melanda M. Morel; they moved from Newton N.J. to Dundee, in 1989. Charles was a Lineman for Cable TV in New Jersey and New York before accepting a position as an Electronic Technician for IEC Electronics Corp., in Newark, NY; where he retired from in 2001.

Mr. Sipley was a member of the Dundee American Legion Bradley-Jessop Post #660, the Vietnam Veterans of Elmira, and the Purple Heart Association. But his greatest enjoyment in life was his family. He loved his children and grandchildren, giving wheelchair rides, and being 'Poppy' who always said "Yes" when Grandma said "No". He was also an All Season Sportsman, who looked forward to fishing and hunting every year.

He is survived by his wife of almost 53 years Melanda; step father Harry Elston; brother Jerry Sipley; sister Barbara Johnson; children Charles E. Sipley III, LaLannie Ovenshire, and Jason Sipley; 9 grandchildren Patrick, Bethany, Emma, Brandyn, Brayden, Karson, Sophia, Piper, & Ruby; and 2 great grandchildren Adrienne, & Delilah; and too many aunts, uncles, cousins, & extended family to mention.

He was pre-deceased by his father, his mother Mrytle Elston, and a grandson Charles E. Sipley IV.
