Douglas D. Morley

Dundee: Douglas D. Morley, age 67, of Horseheads, formerly of Dundee, NY passed away Wednesday April 2, 2025 at Arnot-Ogden Medical Center, in Elmira, NY.

There were no prior calling hours. A Celebration of His Life will be held from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Saturday June 21, 2025, at the Dundee VFW 125 Seneca St. Ext. Dundee, NY 14837.

Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

Douglas was born Sept. 18, 1957 in Penn Yan, NY, son of the late Mahlon M and Elizabeth A. (Gaylord) Morley. He attended Dundee Central Schools. A lifelong area resident, Doug was the epitome of a true handyman. He worked for Seneca Foods for many years until the company left the area. He worked for Earl Hoover fabricating the caning lines. He most recently worked construction with Mickey Nolan. On Dec. 18, 1995 he married Anita Lynn Beebe, they worked together as A&D Services, repairing and constructing wood pallets.

Doug was a "Jack of all Trades", being able to fix mostly anything. He loved cars, fixing them, racing them, or building them. He enjoyed motorcycles, and woodworking. Many friends and family have pieces of furniture built by him. He was very artistic, and had a creative mind; he could visualize something and then build it. In his younger years he had been a member of the Himrod Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife Anita Lynn Morley of Brunswick, GA, five children, Melissa A. (Mike) Gilbert of Himrod, Charlene B. (Shaun) Gage of Dundee, Lawrence 'Gomer' W. (Megan Pielach) Hicks of Penn Yan, Lynn (Carson) Kindy and Elizabeth Hicks both of Brunswick, GA; 11 grandchildren; 2 great grandchildren; his first wife and mother of his two daughters Norva Wood of Penn Yan; his sister Patty (Duane) Cady of Dundee; and several nieces and nephews.
