Obituary of Rose E. Morse

Rose E. Morse Dundee: Rose E. Morse, age 91, of Dundee, formerly of Rock Stream, Reading Center, and Savona, NY died Friday April 18, 2025 at The Homestead, in Penn Yan, N.Y. Calling hours will be Friday April 25, 2025 from 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where her funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon with Johnnie Petris officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dundee Fire Company Emergency Squad, 12 Union St., Dundee, NY 14837. Rose was born September 25, 1933 in the town of Woodhull, NY, the daughter of the late William and Mary (Tubbs) Groves. On Nov. 4, 1951 in Bath, NY she married the late Leland H. Morse who passed away on May 25, 2008. Together she and her husband raised 8 children; when they were old enough she accepted a position working in the cafeteria of Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, a job she was perfectly at home with from 1967 until her retirement in 1985. Mrs. Morse had attended the Assembly of God Church in Watkins Glen, and more recently the Waneta Lake Baptist Chapel. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, and cross stitch, and time spent with her many grandchildren. She is survived by all 8 of her children Mary Jane Trank, Grace Ann Dunn of Watkins Glen, Guy William Morse of Elmira, Garry Cody (Corin) Morse of Bath, Larry Gene Morse of Bennettsburg, Michael Wayne (Toni) Morse of Madison, FL, Martha Jean Thorpe of Bennettsburg, and Samuel Lee (Katina) Morse of Dundee; son in law Chuck Thorpe, daughter in law Mary Morse; 26 grandchildren; 44 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; 2 sisters Anna Groves of Corning, and Nelle Bliss of Addison; and numerous nieces and nephews.
