Robert E Canfield Dundee / Wayne: Robert E Canfield, age 97, of Wayne, NY passed away Friday January 24, 2025 at Fred & Harriett Taylor Health Center, Bath, N.Y. Honoring his wishes there will be no prior calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Saturday May 17, 2025, at 1:00pm. in McDowell Cemetery, Route 230, Wayne, NY; In lieu of flowers those wishing to make a memorial contribution may consider Harvest Baptist Church, 7568 NY Route 54, Bath, NY 14810. Robert was born June 28, 1927 in Penn Yan, NY, the son of the late Claude and Emma (Hayes) Canfield. He graduated from Hammondsport High School in 1945, and soon after, served in the U.S. Army, honorably discharged in 1946. Bob was an engineering manager employed by I.B.M. of Endicott, NY for over 25 years, retiring in the early 1980's. Mr. Canfield was a very active member of the community. He was a member of the Harvest Baptist Church, the Barrington Rifle Club, the Bath Rod & Gun Club, the Wayne American Legion, Sons of the American Revolution, and the Lamoka Masonic Lodge #463 F&AM. He was the former Superintendent of McDowell Cemetery and was a past Town of Wayne Code Enforcement Officer. In whatever spare time he could find, he loved fishing, enjoyed the view overlooking Keuka Lake, looked forward to target shooting and as a grower managing the family vineyards. He always enjoyed the fine NYS wines and especially the Ports, as well as the sparkling wines. He will be missed by his 2 sons, David Canfield of Dundee, and Jeff (Debbie) Canfield of Christiana, PA; 2 grandchildren; 1 nephew; and 1 niece; and countless friends.
