Evelyn Jean 'Sis' Jayne Dundee: Evelyn Jean ''Sis'' Jayne, age 95, of Dundee, NY passed away on Wednesday July 16, 2025 at The Homestead, in Penn Yan, N.Y. Honoring her wishes there will be no prior calling hours; the family invites friends to attend a Celebration of Her life starting at 3:00 pm Saturday July 26, at the Dundee American Legion, 10 Spring St., Dundee. A remembrance service will be held at 5:00 p.m. with Lay Pastor Lew Ann Giles officiating. Inurnment will be private in Hillside Cemetery in Dundee. 'Sis' was born July 2, 1930 in the town of Starkey, NY, one of 10 children of the late Olin Eugene and Anna Laura (Fultz) Paddock. She left school early at the age of 16, to help support the family by being the head waitress and cook at the Knotty Pine in Dundee. On June 5, 1957 in Baltimore, MD she married the late Raymon 'Jess' Jayne Jr.; who passed away on August 2, 1976. She was a Bookkeeper for G.L.F. and Seneca Foods before purchasing the grocery aptly named Jayne's Grocery in Himrod, NY, which she ran until 1977. A lifelong area resident, she enjoyed being a snowbird from 1983-2008. While in Florida during the winters, she worked at the visitor's center of Ocala National Forrest. Mrs. Jayne attended the Dundee Methodist Church, and was a member of American Legion Bradley-Jessop Post #660, Ladies Aux. Loved by everyone who ever met her, she will be especially missed by her son Gary R. (Marge) Gilbert of Luray, VA; 2 grandsons Daniel Gilbert also of Luray, VA, and Corey Gilbert of Newfield, NY; a great grandson Jacob Gilbert; a brother James E. (Cindy) Paddock and 3 sisters Mary Lou Webster, Jane Ellen (Raymond) Miller, and Betty Ann Hansen all of Dundee; her dear companion of 40 years Claude Pulver's son Richard (Brenda) Pulver and their family whom she loved as her own; along with countless nieces, nephews, and friends. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her longtime companion Claude Pulver; 3 brothers George, Ralph, and 'Dick' Paddock; and 2 sisters Eleanor Thompson, and Nancy Briggs; and the father of her son Robert Gilbert.
