Obituary of Mary Louise Ward

Mary Louise Ward Dundee: Mary Louise Ward, age 93, of Dundee, NY passed away Tuesday August 12, 2025 in the comfort of her home with her family by her side. Honoring her wishes there are no prior calling hours, and her services will be private at the convenience of her family. Memorial contributions may be made to Dundee Fire Company, or the Dundee Fire Company Emergency Squad, 12 Union St., Dundee, NY 14837. Mary was born December 29, 1931 in Shinglehouse, PA, one of eight children of the late Leon L. and Florence Pearl (Hillyard) Hurd. She has lived in New York since 1949, previously of Bath, NY. On May 29, 1959 in the Penn Yan Methodist Church she married the late Dale Edward Ward who passed away on March 12, 2019. A former employee of Westinghouse in Bath, she had also work for Seneca Foods. While raising her family from 1962-1978, she enjoyed working at Fred's Chicken House, in Dundee. After Fred's she worked for several years at the Ranch House, the bowling alley, and Dundee Pharmacy; finally retiring in 1996. Mary was also a former member of the Dundee F.D. Ladies Auxiliary. She is dearly loved and will be forever missed by her daughter Barbara J. Centurelli with whom she made her home in the last few years; and 2 sons Thomas L. Woodruff Sr. of Sherwood, Arkansas, and Michael D. Ward who lived right next door to her; 6 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; 3 brothers Harry (Kathy) Hurd of Winder, GA, Robert Hurd of South Carolina, Roy Hurd of Apopka, FL; a sister Betty Hamilton of Hornell, NY; sister-in-law Joyce (Ben) Vedder of Himrod, NY; and several nieces and nephews. The family extends a special thank you to Juanita Schmidt for her loving, wonderful care; that allowed Mary to remain in her home, "Mary loved her like a daughter".
