Barbara Alice Struck West Barbara Alice Struck West, 89, of State College, PA, recently of Penn Yan, NY, died Tuesday, April 19, 2016, in the comfort of her daughter's home. Burial will be at 9:00 a.m. Sat. (April 23) in Pine Hall Cemetery, State College, PA. Calling hours will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday (April 23) at State College Assembly of God Church; where a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Steven Silliman officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to Young Life P.O. Box 321, Lemont, PA 16851 Born June 8, 1926 in Harrisburg, PA, she was the daughter of the late Ferdinand Theodore and Alice Edith Clark Struck. A 1943 graduate of State College High School; she graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor degree in Home Economics in 1947. On June 10, 1948 Barbara married Dr. Maurice L. Sill; who survives in Huntington, W.V. In 1950 she and her husband, Maurice moved to India where he served as a missionary, for eight years (two terms); started their family, and she volunteered as a Girl Scout leader. Barbara was a social worker for the Welfare Department, in Ithaca, NY; a Head Start Teacher & Social Worker, in Ithaca; the Head Start Director & Teacher in Grantsville, MD; and then a Preschool Teacher in Ithaca. She married Edward West, M.D., on July 26, 1980, who survives at home in State College, PA. She was a member of State College Assembly of God. She volunteered at a nursing home where she planned birthday parties for over 30 years. Barbara participated in Youth Life fundraising. She helped with the church nursery and was also a greeter. She enjoyed babysitting and helped her children with her grandchildren when they were born. Barbara was very hospitable and enjoyed caring for others. Barbara enjoyed nature, bird watching, and gardening. Barbara is survived by five children, Marilyn (Dean) Donald of Locke, NY, David (Kaye) Sill of Ithaca, NY, Kenneth Sill of Louisville, KY, Margaret "Peggy" (Alan) Travis of Penn Yan, NY, and Elaine (Benjamin) Pearson of Nashville, TN; stepchildren, Linda (John) Talone of Collegeville, PA, Terri (Leonard) Banack of Baltimore, MD, and Laurie (Jeffrey) West-Jenkins of Julian, PA; 16 grandchildren, Elizabeth Weed, Seth Donald, Rebecca Jones, Orriana Sill, Melissa Sill, Heather Domin, Ted Sill, Yvonne Sill, Lisa Grant, Joel Travis, Josiah Travis, Nathan Travis, David Travis, Derek Pearson, Aaron Pearson, Carina Pearson; 7 step-grandchildren, Russell Talone, Corey Talone, Angela Ambrose, Nicholas Banack, Leonard Banack III, Jessie Jenkins, Mitchell Jenkins; 11 great-grandchildren, Joy Weed, Serena Weed, Elijah Weed, James Weed, Michael Weed, Alina Jones, Charles Jacob "C.J." Domin, Isaac Grant, William Grant, Isaiah Travis, Clara Pearson; 7 step great-grandchildren, Carter Talone, John Arthur Talone, Matthew Talone, Reilly William Talone, Carrie Ambrose, Christopher Joseph "C.J." Ambrose, Addison Ambrose; and two brothers, Robert (Clara) Struck of Carmel, IN and John "Jack" (Nancy) Struck of Mechanicsburg, PA.
