Mary M. Briggs Dundee/Penn Yan: Mary M. Briggs, age 92, of Clinton Crest Manor, formerly of Dundee, N.Y. died Thursday June 27, 2013 at Strong Memorial Hospital, in Rochester, N.Y.. Friends may call from 5:00 -7:00 pm Monday (July 1) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where a funeral service will be held at 7:00 pm Lay Pastor Lew Ann Giles officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to charity of the donor's choice. Mary was born February 12, 1921 in Millport, NY, the daughter of the late Harry and Annie Dodson Leech. On Sept. 24, 1938 in Penn Yan, NY she married the late Lawrence W. Briggs Sr.; he passed away on December 11, 2004. She was a former seamstress employed by Michael Stearns Clothing, of Penn Yan, and a former employee of the Dundee Specialty Company, retiring in 1977. She has lived in Penn Yan since 2009, having lived in the same house on Union St. in Dundee for 53 years. Mrs. Briggs was a past member of Ladies of the Moose Lodge #1519; enjoyed collecting antiques, and going to family gatherings. She is loved and will be missed by two sons Lawrence W. Briggs, Jr. of Binghamton, NY, Donald G. (Carolyn) Briggs of Weston, NY; a daughter Joyce M. Manley of Penn Yan, NY; 8 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; 1 great great grandson; numerous nieces, nephews, and in laws.
