Obituary of Martin Sautter

Martin "Uncle Mart" Sautter Dundee: Martin Sautter, age 89, of Dundee, NY died Wednesday October 30, 2013 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, in Penn Yan, NY. Honoring his wishes there are no prior calling hours; and his family will mourn their loss privately. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Cardiac Rehab @Soldiers and Sailors, 418 North Main St, Penn Yan, NY 14527. Martin was born July 7, 1924 in Center Moriches, NY, the son of the late Edward and Rosalie Hutter Sautter. He was a member of the class of 1942 at Bellport High School, Bellport, Long Island. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corp from 1942 - 1946. He became a Nuclear Reactor Operator working in Nuclear Research for Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, NY in 1951. On July 2, 1955 in Brookhaven, NY he married the former Adele M. Burke; who passed away on June 26, 2010. They moved to the Finger Lakes from Yaphank, NY when he retired in 1979. Mr. Sautter was a Life Member of the N.R.A.; a member of the Dundee American Legion Bradley-Jessop Post #660, the Oldest Active Member of the Twin Tiers Sports Car Club; and a former member of the S.C.C.A. Sports Car Club of America on Long Island. An avid sports car enthusiast, who also had a passion for planes and trains, enjoyed restoring cars in his spare time. He is loved and will be missed by his daughter Terrie L. Sautter with whom he made his home; a son Howard W. (Kim McCormick) Sautter of Dundee, a surrogate son and daughter in law Michael and Sara Savalli of Hopewell Junction, NY, a sister in law Florence Burke also of Dundee; and several nieces and nephews.
