Obituary of Elizabeth K. Stanton

Elizabeth K. "Betty" Stanton Ithaca/Dundee: Elizabeth K. "Betty" Stanton, age 102, of Ithaca, NY passed away peacefully on Friday May 2, 2014 at Oak Hill Manor, in Ithaca, NY. Friends may call from 11:00 am - 12 noon on Wednesday (May 7) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where her funeral service will be held at 12 noon with Rev. Lucinda O'Leary officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Assoc., 60 Bay Street, Staten Island, NY 10301 or the charity of the donor's choice. "Betty" was born October 5, 1911 in Rochester, NY, the daughter of the late Frank L. and Sarah Morse Kurtz. She graduated from West High School in Rochester in 1928. After attending the University of Rochester for one year, she transferred to Rochester Athenaem & Mechanic's Institute, now R.I.T., graduating in 1934. On June 13, 1935 in the West Point Chapel she married the late Julius "Stan" Desmond Stanton; who passed away after 61 years of marriage on April 18, 1997. Mrs. Stanton was a former member of the Trumansburg Golf Club. She is survived by one son John D. (Joy) Stanton of The Villages, Florida; a daughter Janet S. "Jan" Stanton of Show Low, AZ; 7 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was pre-deceased by a daughter Sara E.
