Obituary of Janet B. Shoemaker

Janet B. Kellogg Shoemaker Rock Stream: Janet B. Kellogg Shoemaker, age 82, of Rock Stream, NY died unexpectedly on Monday June 16, 2014 at the home of her son, surrounded by her loving family. Friends may call from 2-4 pm Thursday (June 19) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where her funeral service will follow at 4:00 pm with Rev. Lucinda O'Leary officiating. Inurnment in Rock Stream Cemetery will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to Dundee Fire Company Emergency Squad, 12 Union St., Dundee, NY 14837, or the Ovid Ambulance Corp. 2136 Brown St. Ovid, NY 14521. Janet was born November 13, 1931 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of Mott H. and Beatrice Bement Kellogg. She graduated from Dundee Central School in 1951. She worked for Rothchilds until she married the late Carvey Dale "Pete" Shoemaker on Nov. 18, 1951 in Himrod, NY. He passed away on February 7, 2011. A homemaker for the rest of her life; Mrs. Shoemaker was a member of the Himrod Baptist Church, and occasionally attended the Rock Stream Presbyterian Church; she was also a Past President of The King's Daughters in Corning, NY. A lifelong local resident having lived in the same home since she was thirteen; in her spare time she enjoyed crochet, knitting, quilting, her cats, but most of all. She loved spending time with her family. She loved and will be dearly missed by her only son Curtis Dale (Roeberta "Birdie") Shoemaker of Lodi; 5 grandchildren, Curtis Dale (Sue) Shoemaker Jr. of Moravia, NY, Scotti Lee (Jaimi) Shoemaker of Lodi, Nickie (Chris) Wayand of Bossier City, LA, Tricia (Brian) Edwards of Groton, Dale Richard "D.R." (Erin) Shoemaker of Hartford Mills, NY; 12 great grandchildren Meagan, Cody, Little Joe, & Korey Shoemaker, Chrissy, & Amber Wayand, Austin, & Emma Edwards, Daimon, Ethan, Reece, & Grace Shoemaker; and several nieces and nephews.
