Obituary of Lloyd W. Peelle

Lloyd W. Peelle Penn Yan: Lloyd W. Peelle, age 93, of Penn Yan, formerly of Rock Stream, NY died Thursday July 31, 2014 at the Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home. Friends may call from 3-4 p.m. Sunday (Aug. 3) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee, where his funeral service will begin with a Masonic Service at 4:00 pm, and continue with Rev. Lucinda O'Leary officiating. Burial with Military Honors will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Rock Stream Cemetery, Old Lake Rd. Rock Stream, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Dundee Rotary Club, 51 Seneca St. or to the Dundee Masonic Lodge 123 F&AM, 83 Bigelow Ave. Dundee, NY 14837. Lloyd was born October 25, 1920 in Hollis, NY, the son of the late John W.T. and Margaret Wilson Peelle. He graduated from Phillips Academy in Andover, MA in 1938, and received his Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cornell University in 1943. On April 10, 1943 in Odessa, NY he married the former Marcia A. Rundle, who passed away in August of 1980. He served in the U.S. Army from 1944 - 1946. Lloyd was a self employed cattle and fruit farmer, having owned Peelle Farms Inc. in Rock Stream until his retirement in 1981. Mr. Peelle had been a very active member in several organizations. He was a former Elder of the Rock Stream Presbyterian Church, a Past Master of the Dundee Masonic Lodge # 123 F&AM, a Past President, Paul Harris Fellow, and star in many annual variety shows of the Dundee Rotary Club. He was also a past member of the Starkey Town Board. In his spare time he enjoyed downhill skiing which he took up at age 75 and enjoyed until 2007 at the age of 87. He is survived and will be missed by his son Dr. Kenneth R. (Rosemarie) Peelle of North Andover, MA; his daughter Jennifer A. (John) Birosh of Penn Yan, NY; 3 granddaughters Brooke S. (Eric) Guthrie of North Andover, MA, Lydia C. (Jay Kethcam Secor) Peelle of Nashville, TN, Allison A. Peelle of East Syracuse, NY; 5 great grandchildren; a brother Richard (Rosemary) Peelle of Corning, NY; a sister Janet Ewing of Fort Collins, CO; and several nieces and nephews.
