My condolences to the family of George; he and I were assigned to 592d Transportation Company, 24th Transportation Battalion, 124th Transportation Command in Cam Ranh Bay, Republic of Vietnam. I was assigned there in May 1970 and George was the first one to welcome me to the unit. I just discovered this obituary today thanks to another friend who is part of the 592d Facebook page. I'm really hurt by George's passing; we had corresponded via e-mail for a long while, then all of a sudden I wasn't getting answers to things I sent him. I'll always remember him; still have a pic of him and I in front of our hooch in Cam Ranh; if the family would like it, I'd be happy to send it to them via e-mail if someone would pass this message on to them.
Rest in peace, Soldier!

Dear Eric and Family,
I'm so sorry for the loss of your dad..I worked as the secretary on 3 South at Van Duyn until last year when I retired. I went up and saw your dad this past Christmas Day and we had a wonderful time talking about everything, although he seemed to be in some pain. My dad was a military man so we always talked about the military.I just got a card back that I had sent to George for Memorial Day and that is how I found out about his passing...I truly enjoyed your dad as he was a big help in giving me names of people to have things done with our house when we were in the process of buying it over a year ago. I will miss him and all of our conversations..He was a true gift to me and everyone he came in contact with..May God watch over you and your family..Take Care..Laurie

I am so sorry for your loss. He now is at peace and in no pain. Skip and I were very close to George and always shared many laughs with him. He will always remain in my heart. The Great Spirit is getting a phenomenal angel. Good bye for now our friend. Spread your wings and fly with the eagles. Linda

My condolences to everyone, I am so very sorry for your loss.
George was also talented in heating and air conditioning. Working for VJ Stanley out of Rochester, he traveled most of central New York installing or repairing various industrial/commercial installations. He did the HVAC for Stella’s Restaurant in Syracuse where I met him. We talked a lot over the years, over dinner at the diner. He helped me install central air in my house. People were always calling him for troubleshooting advice whenever there was a problem with a furnace. He always helped.
Quiet and soft spoken, he liked to talk about car racing and automotive technology. He took great interest in his friends, he was a good listener.
George was a good guy, a great friend. He will be sorely missed by the many that he helped over the years.
