Obituary of Kent L. Wilmott

Kent L. Wilmott Waneta Lake/Tyrone: Kent L. Wilmott, age 82, of Waneta Lake left his loving family to join the Lord and his wife on Wednesday, February 18, 2015. His life was defined by his love of God, his love of his wife and his family and friends. Kent was born April 6, 1932 in Milwaukee, WI, the son of the late Lyle B. and Helen F. Ernst Wilmott. He was blessed with a loving marriage of 56 years to his beloved Nancy Miller of Horseheads, NY. He received his Bachelor of Science Degree from the University of Buffalo and then served in the US Army from 1954 to 1956. He later earned his MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University. Kent enjoyed his career as the Western Regional Director for the American Management Association before opening his own management consulting firm in Novato, California. He also served as an adjunct professor of business at the University of San Francisco for 17 years and at Keuka College for 4 years before retiring in 2011. He was a faithful member and served on the church councils of the Novato United Methodist and the Bluff Point United Methodist churches. A devoted husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his 3 sons Michael (Heidi), Brian (Sandy) and James (Nicole); his 10 grandchildren; Kyle, Eric, Holly, Seanna (Michael and Heidi); Justin, Joshua and Jacob (Brian and Sandy); Madeline, Riley and Delaney (James and Nicole) as well as his 4 great grandchildren, his brothers Gareth and Robert, nieces Gail and Susan, the Kirkwood family of Lima, NY and the Stuart family of Almond, NY. Kent thought football was a metaphor for life. With respect to that metaphor, he has now won the Super Bowl. Honoring his wishes, there are no prior calling hours. A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 1:00 at the Bluff Point United Methodist Church. Interment will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Horseheads at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Bluff Point United Methodist Church P.O.
