Obituary of William F. Dean

William F. ''Bill'' Dean Dundee: William F. ''Bill'' Dean, age 58, of the town of Tyrone, NY died unexpectedly on Saturday January 28, 2012 in the comfort of his home. Honoring his wishes there are no prior calling hours. A memorial service and celebration of his life; will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 4) at the Full Gospel Covenant Church 4225 Perry Hill Rd. Altay, NY with Shepherd Patricia Chilbert officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. Bill was born November 5, 1953 in Philadelphia, PA, the son of the late David E. and Margaret M. Spiecker Dean Jr. He graduated from Dundee Central School in 1971. Despite having no formal instruction, Bill had two hobbies which he was not only passionate about, but achieved a level of expertise unmatched by his peers. He was an extremely talented guitarist and tremendous Chess player. He had played and beaten several state and national champions in Chess during informal "pick-up" games. He also played guitar in several bands throughout the years, including a band with his brother, John. Bill was a self-taught Biblical Scholar who had a keen interest in Philosophy and various religions. His career was as diverse as his personal hobbies. He was a skilled welder, had been in sales for a mechanical lubrication company, and spent many years driving truck throughout the United States. Most recently, he had partnered up with his nephew in a start up energy business that he was looking forward to funding his retirement with. Although he had many passions and interests in his life, he always felt his greatest accomplishment was the raising of his son, Uriah. Bill was so proud of Uriah; the man he had become, the path he was taking in his life, the career he chose as his profession, and especially the woman he chose to be his wife. He is survived by Son Uriah C. (Megan) Dean of Victor, NY; dear friend & companion Barbara Hollenbeck with whom he made his home; 2 brothers David E. (Jane) Dean III of Dundee, John R. Dean of Penn Yan; a sister Margaret A. (Marshall) Rubin of Liberty, NY, several nieces and nephews including a special nephew Jonathan (Chanh) Exaros. He was predeceased by his father on May 30, 1981, and by his mother on January 17, 2012. Arrangements were entrusted to the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee.
