Obituary of Richard T. Pierce

Richard T. ''Dick'' Pierce Penn Yan: Richard T. ''Dick'' Pierce, age 86, of Dundee, NY passed away with his family at his side on Wednesday February 17, 2016 at the Penn Yan Manor Nursing Home, in Penn Yan, N.Y. Friends are invited to calling hours from 5:00 – 8:00 pm Monday (Feb. 22) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where a Fireman service will be held at 8:00 pm. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10:00 am Saturday (Mar. 5) at the Faith Baptist Church, 13 Harpending Ave., Dundee, with Pastor Lawrence Semans officiating. Inurnment will be in Hillside Cemetery Dundee, NY at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Dundee Fire Company, 12 Union St., Dundee, NY 14837; or the Alzheimers Association, Rochester Chapter, 435 East Henrietta Rd., Rochester, NY 14620. Richard was born January 25, 1930 in Dundee, NY, the youngest of 14 children of William T. and Ethel Retan Pierce. On July 26, 1963 in Tyrone, N.Y. he married the former Joyce B. Spears. "Dick" as many knew him may be remembered from working at Ingersol-Rand, Millard Dairy delivering milk, and repairing and installing TV's and TV antennae; but his favorite occupation was the 22 years he was employed by Dundee Central School, driving school bus; which he retired from in 2002. Mr. Pierce was a member of the Dundee Methodist Church, a 62 year and Life Member of the Dundee Fire Company, a former member of the Dundee Fire Police, past long time President of the Dundee Fireman's Benevolent Assoc.; a past Dundee Village Board member; and a member of the former Dundee Sportsman's Club. In his spare time he enjoyed camping at Paradise Park, hunting, bowling, loved to play pool, and was an avid poker player, was a respected Umpire for men's slow pitch softball & Little League baseball. He is loved and will be dearly missed by his wife of 52 years Joyce B. Pierce; 3 sons Lenny T. (Debbie) Pierce, Jamie J. (Kim) Pierce all of Dundee, Jody B. Pierce of Canandaigua; a daughter Jennifer L. (Korey) Goodman also of Dundee; 8 grandchildren Bradley Pierce, Robbie Pierce, Mariah Pierce, Makayla Pierce, Mayce Goodman, Sabrina Goodman, Bryon "Bucky" Case, and Dakota R. Pierce; 4 great grandchildren; and countless nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by all of his siblings, 3 brothers and 10 sisters; and 2 sons Timothy E. Pierce on March 12, 2013, and Jeffrey S.
