Obituary of Christopher John Scott

SPC Christopher J. Scott Dundee: SPC Christopher John Scott,a Military Policeman, age 21, of Dundee, NY was killed in action while serving our country on Saturday September 3, 2011 in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Friends and Community are invited to pay their respects to him and his family from 2:00 -7:00 p.m. Tuesday Sept. 13 at the BAIRD FUNERAL HOME, 36 Water Street, Dundee, NY. A funeral service with Full Military Honor's will be held at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday Sept. 14 at the Dundee Central School Gym, 55 Water St., Dundee with Rev. Lucinda O'Leary and his cousin Pastor Gary Michael Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee. In lieu of flowers the family graciously request memorial contributions be made to create the Christopher J. Scott Memorial Scholarship Fund c/o Serv U Credit Union 46 Millard St. Dundee, NY 14837. Christopher was born November 17, 1989 in New Port Richey, FL, the son of Kenneth M. and Tammy L. Trank Scott. He was raised in Dundee, and graduated from Dundee Central School in 2009. "Chris" was a wonderful student and athlete, having received both Maroon and White Varsity Letters in Football, Track and as the only male Cheerleader on the Varsity Squad. Chris had also been a Boy Scout, and as an avid sportsman, and hunter who loved duck and coon hunting, he was a former member of the Spencer Van Etten Coon Hunting Club. Chris was skilled in martial arts, having studied under Zeus Ortiz in Dundee, and later with Dwight Laffler at Penn Yan Martial Arts; receiving his Senior Red Belt. Christopher John Scott always dreamed of serving his country as a M.P.; he followed that dream as soon as he graduated high school. He joined the Army in 2009 assigned to the 561st Military Police Company, 716th Military Police Battalion, 101st Sustainment Brigade. He was stationed at Fort Campbell, KY in May 2010. He was deployed in July 2011 to Kandahar, Afghanistan where he made the ultimate sacrifice for his Country. His awards and decorations include: the National Defense Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Service Medal; and Army Service Ribbon, the Afghanistan Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, Overseas Service Ribbon, and he has been awarded the following medals posthumously Bronze Star Medal, Purple Heart, Army Good Conduct Medal, NATO Medal, and Combat Action Badge. He is loved and will be forever missed by his parents Kenneth M. and Tammy L. Scott at home in Tyrone, NY; 2 brothers PFC Michael A. Scott currently stationed at Fort Riley, Kansas, as part of the 1st Engineer Battalion 41st Engineer Company, and Daniel S. Scott at home; his maternal grandparents Kenneth and Marge Trank, paternal grandmother Cathy Scott both of Dundee, his fiancé who he was going to marry on September, 18th, Tory L. Oden of Clarksville, Tenn., his Brother In Arms SPC Daniel L. Osciezanek currently serving in Kandahar, Afghanistan; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and countless friends.
