George E. Stone Himrod: George E. Stone, age 77, of Himrod, NY passed away on Thursday April 27, 2017 at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, N.Y. with his family at his side. George was born February 29, 1940 in Binghamton, NY, the son of the late George I. and Rita R. Finch Stone. He graduated from Union Endicott High School in 1958; and graduated from Broome Technical Community College with an Associate's Degree in Construction Technology in 1962. He proudly served in the U.S. Army in Germany from 1962-1964. After being Honorably Discharged he returned to college, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the University of Buffalo in 1969. George was a Salesman for ALCOA from Buffalo to Syracuse prior to 1980. He then purchased a Manufacturer's Representative Business he named GESCO Sales Inc. operating out of Syracuse, NY until he retired in 2005. He was a Life Member of the Harry E. Crosby VFW Post 2472 in Tonawanda, NY; a member of the American Society of Plumbing Engineers, he served as a Representative on the Advisory Council for J.R. Smith Manufacturing Co.; had been a volunteer at the Penn Yan Community Center, and supported many community fund raisers. In his spare time he had enjoyed golf, drawing/painting, working out with the Cardio-Rehab Group at Soldiers and Sailors Hospital with his good friends, and spent countless enjoyable hours maintaining his property. He is survived by his loving wife Barbara Pierce Stone at home; 2 sons Michael (Becky) Stone of Marathon, NY, and Brian (Arleen) Stone of Taoyuan, Taiwan; 3 wonderful grandchildren Miranda Stone, Dylan Stone, Johnny Stone; 2 sisters R. Sandra (David) Forbes of Columbia, SC, and Karen (Mike) Selner of Plano, TX, Brother-In-Law Gene Pierce, Sister-In Laws, Patricia Ames, Carolyn Conley. His cousins, who meant the world to him, along with several nieces and nephews who he loved dearly. Since moving to this area he had a special buddy, Chris Miller, who George considered to be a part of his family. Honoring his wishes, friends are invited to a Celebration of His Life and Reception from 2:00- 4:00 pm Sunday, May 21, and a Service of Remembrance will be held at 2:30 PM at Veraisons Restaurant at Glenora Wine Cellars, 5435 Route 14, Dundee, NY. Inurnment will be in Hillside Cemetery Dundee, NY at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers suggested remembrances are the American Heart Association, Finger Lakes Chapter, 2113 Chili Ave., Rochester, NY 14624, Himrod Fire Department First Responders, 3530 Himrod Rd., Himrod, NY 14842-9608, or the Dundee Fire Company Emergency Squad, 12 Union St., Dundee, NY 14837.
