Obituary of Edward G. Sisson

Edward G. Sisson Dundee: Edward Gilbert Sisson, age 89, of Dundee, NY died Saturday November 18, 2017 at the Penn Yan Manor. Edward was born March 10, 1928 in New York, NY, the son of Edward Bellamy and Elsie Lorenz Sisson. He graduated from Peter Stuyvesant High School and studied commercial art at Cooper Union in New York, NY. Edward served in the U.S. Air Force from 1952 to 1956 in Amarillo, TX. He then worked for New Jersey Bell Telephone Company for 26 years until he retired in 1982. On July 21, 1951 in New York City, he married Lois Marie Williamson. Edward and Lois resided and raised their family in Berkeley Heights, NJ where he proudly designed and built the family's home. Upon retirement, he fulfilled his dream of owning a farm when they moved to Dundee, NY. His many hobbies included gardening, woodworking, drawing and painting, and he was an avid reader. He treasured his lifelong friendships from the Air Force and phone company. Over the years, he was a member of many organizations, including AFL-CIO IBEW Local 827, Dundee Rotary Club, Dundee Library and Penn Yan Art Guild. He was an active member of the Dundee United Methodist Church where over the years he served as Sunday School Superintendent, Chairman of Board of Trustees, a member of Administrative Council and the choir, and many other church committees. Edward was predeceased by his loving wife Lois in 2009 after 58 years of marriage. He is survived by two daughters, Catherine Helen (David) Timpy of Wilmington, NC, and Nancy Jean (Michael) Bernhard of Montgomery, TX; a son, Edward Ralph Sisson of Westmont, NJ; 5 grandchildren, Sarah, Evan and Jordan (Cassie) Timpy, Amanda and Alexander Bernhard; a brother, Ralph R. (Harriet) Sisson of Brockport, NY and two nephews. He was predeceased by his nephew, Evan B. Sisson. There are no prior calling hours. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 25 at the Dundee United Methodist Church, 35 Water St., Dundee, with the Rev. Marilyn Wood officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Dundee Fire Company Emergency Squad, 12 Union St., Dundee, NY, 14837.
