Ronald M. Swarthout PHELPS-Ronald M. Swarthout, 78, of Phelps, NY, passed away on Tuesday, April 24, 2018 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Penn Yan on May 10, 1939, the son of Ralph L. and Helen (Miller) Swarthout, and graduated from Waterloo Central School in 1957. Ron married Joyce Morey on December 5, 1959 in St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Waterloo, NY. He was a supervisor and tool and die maker at Winross in Rochester, NY, and also worked at several other machine shops throughout the area over the course of his life, retiring in 2003. Ron was a member of the NRA and a former member of 4-H. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and tinkering as Mr. Fix It. Ron is survived by his wife, Joyce M. Swarthout; a son, Douglas Miller (Tammy) Swarthout of Seneca Castle; two daughters, Cindy Ann Martin and Lisa Jo Swarthout of Seneca Castle; four grandchildren, Stephen (Brooke) Swarthout of Canandaigua, Patrick Lyons of Waterloo, Gabe Gigliotti of Canandaigua, and Nicole Marie Martin of Seneca Castle; seven great grandchildren; a sister, Catherine Mae Strong of Waterloo, NY; an aunt, Jane Cadwell of Dundee; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brother, Carlton Swarthout in 1986. At Ronald's request, there will be no services.
