Obituary of Dorothy E. Thompson

Dorothy E. ''Dottie'' Thompson Penn Yan/Dundee: Dorothy E. Dottie Marusarz Thompson, age 59 of Penn Yan, died gracefully Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital with her family by her side. There are no prior calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at the Faith Baptist Church 13 Harpending Ave. Dundee, NY. Immediately, following the service a Celebration of Her Life will be held at the Dundee VFW Seneca St. Ext., where guests are encouraged to bring a dish to pass and join in the fellowship of celebrating Dorothy's life. Dorothy was born May 17, 1959 in Penn Yan to the late Thelma and Koral "Pee-Wee" Marusarz of Dundee, and later attended Dundee Central School. Dedicated to the service of others, she worked as a patient caregiver through Finger Lakes Health. Throughout the years, she was known as a welcoming, smiling, and familiar face at many Finger Lakes-area restaurants where she served as a waitress, hostess, and devoted mentor to others in the local service industry. At home, she enjoyed music, nature, gardening, spending time with children, friends and family, philosophical talks, and sharing good coffee with good company. She is loved and survived by her husband Michael Thompson of Dundee and their 3 daughters, Danielle, Michelle and Jenna, as well as her 4 beloved grandchildren, 5 siblings, numerous nieces and nephews, and many adoring friends and family. She was pre-deceased by her parents. *In lieu of flowers, guests may choose to make contributions toward a memorial garden in Dorothy's honor, or bring flowers that will be planted by her grandchildren.
