Obituary of Rev. Gerald F. Vanaman

Rev. Gerald F. Vanaman Dundee: Rev. Gerald F. Vanaman, age 86, of Dundee, NY; preached his final sermon on Sunday July 1, 2018 and he heard the words "Well done Good and Faithful Servant" before he left his Beloved Barrington Community Church parking lot. Calling hours will be from 4-7 pm Thursday (July 5) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Friday (July 6) at the Barrington Community Church, 4560 Old Bath Rd., Dundee with Rev. Kenneth Sisson Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in the Barrington Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Barrington Community Church, Memorial Fund; P.O. Box 73, Dundee, NY 14837. Gerald was born November 22, 1931 in Confluence, PA, the only son of the late John C. and Dorothy Lilley Vanaman Jr. He graduated from Confluence High School in 1949; attended California, PA State Teachers College for 2 years; and graduated from Practical Bible College in Johnson City, NY in 1954. On June 21, 1953 in Cortland, NY he married the former Laura R. Crawford. They have lived locally since 1956, previously of Meadville, PA, where he was the Pastor of Denny Chapel from 1954-56. He was the Pastor of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Penn Yan from 1956- 1966; and has been the Pastor of the Barrington Community Church, since 1964. Rev Vanaman was not only a devoted member of the Barrington Community Church, but also the Pastor longer than any other Minister that has had the calling at that church. In his spare time he enjoyed hunting and fishing. He is loved and will be missed by his wife of 65 years Laura R. Vanaman at home; 2 sons John C. (Maureen) Vanaman III of Penn Yan, James E. Vanaman of Starkey; 2 daughters Cindy L. (Carl) Clark of Dundee, and Lynda R. (James Parsons) Vanaman of Penn Yan; 6 grandchildren Michael, K-Leigh, Shalyn, Casandra, Courtney, & Shanika; 7 great grandchildren, Hannah, Claire, Desmond, James, MaryJane, Aubree, & Parker; 3 sisters Donna (George) Larrimore and Lynda J. Vanaman both of Confluence, PA, Hope (Larry) Muse of Lynchburg, VA; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by a daughter in law Rose Marie Vanaman on July 19, 2012.
