Obituary of Charles W. Treat

Capt. Charles W. Treat US Navy Ret. Irondequoit: Capt. Charles W. Treat, age 88, of Irondequoit, NY passed away Monday October 8, 2018 at home. Honoring his wishes there are no prior calling hours. A graveside service with Navy Honors will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday (Oct. 11) in Hillside Cemetery, Millard Street, Dundee, NY with Lay Pastor Lew Ann Giles officiating. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to charity of the donor's choice. Charles was born February 8, 1930 in Port Huron, MI, the son of the late James Golden Treat and Marion Potter Treat. He graduated from Port Huron High School in 1947; and from Duke University in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering. After which he joined the U.S. Navy serving 3 years active duty, and 24 years in the Reserves attaining the rank of Captain. On April 28, 1956 in the Dundee Baptist Church he married the former Joan Grace Dibble, who passed away on Oct. 27, 2005. Charles was a former Supervisor employed by Eastman Kodak Company – Film Manufacturing Organization for 35 years, in Rochester, retiring in 1989. He was an active community member belonging to many organizations throughout his life including Life Member of A.U.S.N.; Life Member Naval Institute; Life Member of Military Officers Assoc.; National Society of Professional Engineers; Rochester Engineering Society; Masons ERAC #163 F&AM.; the Rochester Yacht Club; and Brook Lea Country Club. In his spare time he enjoyed model building, golf and puzzles. He is survived by his sister Marilyn Treat Blaschke; and nephew Karl Blaschke both of Conyers, GA; niece Suzanne Smith of Port Huron, MI, a very special friend Larry (Janet) Wilt of Owosso, MI; and several cousins.
