Penn Yan: Richard M. ''Dick'' Davis, age 83, of Penn Yan, NY died Monday October 8, 2018 at The Homestead, Penn Yan, N.Y.
There are no prior calling hours. A private graveside service will be held at in Hillside Cemetery, Route 14A Dundee, NY.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Wayne Fire Dept. for the Children's Playground, P. O. Box 91 Wayne, NY 14893.
Richard was born December 3, 1934 in Dundee, NY, the son of the late Mahlon and Ruth {Noak} Davis. On Dec. 26, 1953 in Wayne, NY he married the former Beverly M. Carpenter who passed away on June 13, 2004. He served in the U.S. Army in 1954. A lifelong area resident Dick was a Restaurant Manager having worked at the Lakeside Country Club, in Penn Yan, for over 17 years, and then the Penn Yan Elk Lodge, retiring in 1985. Mr. Davis was a Charter Member of Penn Yan Loyal Order of The Moose Lodge #2030, the Wayne American Legion Meade-Price Post 1208, Life Member of Wayne Fire Dept. and a past member of the Penn Yan Elks Lodge. He enjoyed camping, picnicking, growing grapes, and most importantly taking family vacations.
He is survived by 4 sons Richard L. Davis of Aurora, CO, Steven W. (Carolyn Hilligus) Davis of Wayne, NY, Jack M. Davis of Ogden, UT, Jeffrey E. Davis also of Wayne, NY; 2 daughters Sheri L. Buckland and Shelly B. Day both of Hammondsport, NY, 11 grandchildren; 13 great grandchildren; a brother Keith E. (Kathleen) Davis of Bath, NY; sister Naomi Thompson of Bath, NY, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents and wife, he was pre-deceased by a sister Audrey Mae Davis, and two brothers Mahlon D. Davis of Lawrenceburg, TN, and Ronald B. Davis of Middlesex, NY.
