Dundee NY/Fredon, NJ: Mary Rose Armstrong, age 89, of Dundee, NY formerly of New Jersey, passed away unexpectedly on Friday November 16, 2018 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, in Penn Yan, NY.

Honoring her wishes there were no prior calling hours; A Celebration of her life will be held from 1:00 - 5:00 p.m. Saturday May 11, 2019 at the Newton VFW Post 5360 85 Mill St. Newton, NJ.

In lieu flowers memorial contributions may be made to the Newton VFW Post 5360 85 Mill St. Newton, NJ 07860, or to Masonic Harmony Lodge #8 F&AM, 519 US-206 Newton, NJ 07860.

Mary was born November 22, 1928 in Newton, NJ, the daughter of the late Kenneth W. and Esther {Lord} Fritts. She graduated from Newton, N.J. High School in 1947. On June 21, 1947 in Andover, NJ she married William J. Armstrong. They have lived in Dundee since 1988 previously of Fredon, N.J. where she was a farm wife, and had driven school bus in Andover. Mrs. Armstrong was a former member of F.F.A. Future Farmers of America; a former member of the Newton VFW Ladies Auxiliary, having transferred to the Dundee, VFW. She loved horses, and truly enjoyed gambling and casinos.

She will be dearly missed by her husband of 71 years William J. "Bill" Armstrong at home in Dundee, NY; 4 sons, Ted W. (Carol Scott) Armstrong of Stroudsburg, PA, Thomas J. (Sue) Armstrong, Kenneth W. (Cheryl) Armstrong, Allan T. (Laurie) Armstrong all of Newton, NJ; 2 daughters Jacqueline L. "Jackie" (Wayne) Cosh of Dundee, NY, Jill K. (Steve) Metzgar also of Newton, NJ; 14 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; 2 great great grandchildren; a brother Courtney "Pete" (Page) Fritts of Peachtree, GA; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her parents, she was pre-deceased by 2 sisters Patricia Beebe, and Virginia Westbrook.
