Robert G. Webster

Penn Yan: Robert G. Webster, age 87, of Penn Yan, NY died unexpectedly on Thursday January 17, 2019 at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, Penn Yan, NY.

Family and friends are invited to calling hours from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday (Jan. 22) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee. His funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday (Jan. 23) at the Milo Center United Methodist Church, 1415 Milo Center Rd., Penn Yan with Pastor Kimberly Lyons officiating. Burial will be private in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee.

In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to Milo Center United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 299, Penn Yan, NY 14527.

Robert was born May 2, 1931 in the town of Milo, NY, one of 5 sons of the late Howard Eugene and Olive Christine Morley Webster. He graduated from Dundee Central School in 1950. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. On April 2, 1955 in Binghamton NY he married the former Rose Kohlage.

A lifelong area resident, he was a farmer as a boy, after the Navy he worked as a Yates County Deputy Sheriff from 1960 – 1973. After 13 years with the Sheriff's Department he accepted a position as a security guard for Eastman Kodak in Rochester retiring in 1989. After retirement he worked for K-Ventures in Penn Yan.

Mr. Webster was a loyal member of the Milo Center United Methodist Church. He was also an Honorary member of the Penn Yan Fire Department

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years Rose, foster son William "Bill" Lyman of Ovid NY and Bill's two sons Robert and Adam; 2 sisters Nancy Fullagar of Billerica, MA, Carol (Charles) Leach of Penn Yan; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he was predeceased by his 4 brothers Donald, Kenneth, Jack and Dick Webster.
