Helen J. Halbritter Dundee: The Honorable Helen J. Halbritter, Age 79, of 100 Highland Drive, Dundee, died January 8th, 2021 at home after a short illness surrounded by her family. Due to Covid, a private service will be held at the Baird Funeral Home with Rev. Marilyn Wood officiating. Entombment will be in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee. Memorial contributions may be made to The Sunset House, 100 Highland Drive, Dundee, NY; or Touch of Christmas, 12 Union Street, Dundee, NY. Helen was born January 1, 1942 in Albany, NY, the daughter of the late Walter and Violet Wands. She graduated from Guilderland Central School in 1959. On August 8, 1959 in Colonie, NY she married the former Ronald A. Halbritter Sr.; who passed away on Dec. 6, 2006. They lived locally since 1985, previously of Newark, NY. Mrs. Halbritter was employed by the New York State Police for more than 30 years; having received the Excelsior Award in appreciation for dedicated service from "Troop E". Also a Yates County Magistrate for the Town of Starkey and the Village of Dundee since Jan. 1, 1992. Helen owned and operated The Sunset House caring for generations for over thirty years. Helen was a past crew chief of the Newark Arcadia Ambulance and charter member of the Marbletown Fire Dept. Auxiliary. She is survived by one sister Doris Govel of Albany, a daughter, Judy Duquette of Dundee; a son, Ronald A. Halbritter Jr. of Clyde; three grandchildren, Holly (William) White of Dundee, Ronald Halbritter III of Clyde, and Robert J Halbritter of Hummelstown, PA; one great grandchild, Victoria White of Dundee. Four nieces, Chris (Dennis) Wench, Bonita (Jimmy), Horwedel, Lorelei (Arnie) Halbritter, and Lynda Lawyer; five nephews Thomas (Debbie) Govel, Donald (Nina) Govel, John Govel, Larry Halbritter, Michael Halbritter; and several great nieces and nephews; Ex sister-in-law Laura Wing; two ex-daughter-in-laws, Rebecca Hutchinson & Paula Halbritter. . Predeceased by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law Richard & Sandra Halbritter; brother-in-law Russell Halbritter and nephew Ronald Govel.
