Obituary of Faith G. Haight-McDowell

Faith G. Haight-McDowell Dundee: Faith G. Haight-McDowell, age 83, of Dundee, NY passed away on Monday January 18, 2021 at Geneva General Hospital, in Geneva, N.Y.. Observing Covid protocols friends are invited to calling hours from 2-4 pm Thursday (Jan 21) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee, NY. Her funeral service will be by invitation only at Faith Baptist Church, with Pastors Larry & David Semans officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee. Memorial contributions may be made to Faith Baptist Church, 13 Harpending Ave., Dundee, NY 14837 or to the Pluta Cancer Foundation 125 Red Creek Dr. Rochester, NY 14623. Faith was born Dec. 15, 1937 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of the late Glenn J. and Edith Mae {Buck} Vedder. She left school to become a nanny on Long Island for the Morgan family of Dundee. She attended Bible School in Tennessee, and continued being a nanny until Sept. 11, 1965 when she married the late Charles L. Haight in Dundee. He passed away on August 16, 1995. While raising her family she worked for Seneca Foods prior to becoming a family care home operator until 2002; when she became a private duty home care provider; and Mennonite driver retiring in 2017. On Aug. 15, 2015 in Dundee, she got married to John A. McDowell Sr.. Mrs. Haight-McDowell was a member of the Faith Baptist Church; and was formerly active in the Elmira Christian Center. She enjoyed ceramics, chocolate candy making, collecting party supplies; and shopping "FrontGate". She was happiest when she was entertaining and hosting dinner parties with friends, family and guests. She is loved by all who knew her and will be especially missed by her husband John A. McDowell Sr. of Dundee; her son Reid D. Haight of Horseheads, NY, her two daughters Priscilla B. Heald of Waterville, ME, and Sarah A. Haight with whom she made her home; 4 grandchildren Danielle R. Enderle of Worcester, MA, Joshua W.C. Enderle of Farmington, ME, Dustin A. Haight at home, Levi D. Lamphier of Farmington, ME; a great grandson Bentley W.C. Enderle of Farmington, ME; a brother Ralph "Ben" (Joyce) Vedder of Himrod, NY; a sister Sheradith "Hope" Fultz of Campbell, NY' along with numerous nieces, nephews, and inlaws; and 2 step children Carol (Joe) McDowell Shaheen of New York City, NY, and John A. McDowell Jr. of Seattle, Washington. Besides her parents, and first husband, she was pre-deceased by a sister Charity B. Ovenshire in 1992.
