Ronald B. Tormey Bradford/Tyrone: Ronald Brion ''Ronnie'' Tormey, age 71 died peacefully on Thursday Jan. 21, 2021, at his home on Lamoka Lake surrounded by his wife and children after a courageous battle with Melanoma. Ronnie was born April 20, 1949 in Bath, NY, the son of John Benjamin and Betty J. (Green) Tormey. He lived his entire life on Lamoka Lake where he was known to enjoy a few cold ones on the porch. Ron graduated from Dundee Central School, Class of 1967. He enlisted in the National Guard in 1969 while working at Taylor Wine Company. He then worked at Columbia Gas as a Well Tender for over 40 years. Anyone who knew Ron knows his love and commitment to the Tyrone Fire Department. He served for 53 years, as chief for 2 terms and deputy chief for over 20 years. He truly loved all of his brothers and sisters from the Tyrone Fire Department and surrounding departments, and notably one of many special fireman friends, Rob Norris. After retirement, he loved to tinker around the fire department and always enjoyed coffee club on Tuesday mornings with his buddies. He was also a member of American Legion Post 1208 Wayne, NY. He is loved and will be forever missed by his wife of 47 years, Patricia (Stone) Tormey, his children Jenna Tormey of Watkins Glen, Tommi Lynn Tormey (Holly Whipple) of Rochester, and Nathan (Abigail) Tormey of Watkins Glen; a very special Pop Pop to granddaughters Adelaide (the Eldest), Alayna (Bugaboo) and Nora (Nora Baby) Tormey; sister Pamela (Steven) Fleet of Dundee; dear cousins Jean Marie (Don) Kosty of Lamoka Lake, Ben (Darlene) Welsh of Branchport, Kerri (John) Cover of Millersburg, PA, and Godson Joseph (Kerry) Croft of Ontario; sisters in law Regina Ware of Oswego, Kathleen (Billy) Huey of Watkins Glen and Judith Stone of Lamoka Lake; special aunt Betty "Fat and Happy" Anderson; friend and neighbor Annie "Kutzie" Kutz of Lamoka Lake; nieces and nephews Brian Fleet of Penn Yan, Douglas (Amy) Fleet of Dundee, Kristopher (Adele) Ware of New Haven, Katharine (Brandon) Delaney of New Haven; and several dear cousins, great nieces and nephews and countless friends. Ron was predeceased by his parents John and Betty, cousin William Croft, niece Megan Philip along with several other aunts, uncles, special friends, cherished dogs…and cats. A Fireman's Service and Celebration of Life will be held at the Tyrone Fire Department in late spring/early summer at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, any and all donations can be made to the Tyrone Fire Department P.O. Box 69 Tyrone, NY 14887.
