Obituary of Shirley A. Dobson

Shirley A. Hess Dobson Himrod: Shirley A. Hess Dobson, age 76, of Himrod, NY passed away Wednesday June 2, 2021 at Guthrie Corning Hospital, in Corning, NY. Calling hours will be from 4-7 pm Wednesday (June 9) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where her funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Thursday (June 10) with Lay Pastor Lew Ann Giles officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee, NY. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in "Memory of Shirley Dobson" in the memo line to the Dundee Central School "Angel" Fund 55 Water St. Dundee, NY 14837. Shirley was born April 10, 1945 in Montour Falls, NY, one of 9 daughters born to the late Albert E. and Anna Lajza Hess Sr. She graduated from Dundee Central School Class of 1963. On June 20, 1965 in Dundee, she married the late A. C. Dobson; who passed away on Sept. 26, 2013. Shirley started her working career as a waitress at the Glen Motor Inn, before accepting a position at Dundee Central School in 1987 as a Teachers Aid. She retired after 15 years in 2002. She also worked for her dearest friends Colleen & Bob Hartman at The Decoy starting in 1995 until 2009. Mrs. Dobson was a member of F.O.C.O.A.- Fiero Owners Club of America; N.Y.F.O.C. - New York Fiero Owners Club; and M.A.F.O.A. - Mid Atlantic Fiero Owners Assoc.. She is loved and will be dearly missed by her son A.C. (Brandy) Dobson II and grandson Alex C. Dobson of Painted Post, NY; 4 sisters Cora Jane (Roger) Miller, Rose Marie Smith, Mary Ruth (Jerry) Whipple, and Mildred Bates; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and countless friends.
