William Leroy Hines Dundee: William Leroy Hines, age 80, of Dundee, NY died Saturday June 19, 2021 in the comfort of his brothers home. Honoring his wishes there are no prior calling hours. A private graveside service in Grove Mount Cemetery, Himrod, NY will be held at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Dundee Fire Company Emergency Squad, 12 Union St., Dundee, NY 14837. William was born August 23, 1940 in Penn Yan, NY, a son of the late Charles Edward and Martha Washington (Orr) Hines. He served in the U.S. Marine Corp. from 1960-1964. A life-long area resident, after his Honorable Discharge he worked for the Michael Stearns Clothing Co. before he was hired by Morton Salt in Himrod where he worked until it closed. He retired from Transelco, a Division of Ferro Corp, in Dresden, NY in 1993. Mr. Hines was a member of the N.R.A., and the Republican Committee; he enjoyed wood carving and was a firearm enthusiast. He is survived by 3 sons Robert, William, and Shaun Michael Hines; siblings Jacqueline Arnold of Georgia, Donald (Denise) Hines of Florida, Gary E. (Cindy) Hines with whom he made his home since 2008, Charla Lamb of Arizona, and Kathy (Ted) Hilligus also of Dundee; numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was pre-deceased by a brother John Hines in 1968, a nephew Jon Hines in 2011, and a niece Kyle Leigh Thingvoll in 2016.
