Obituary of Carol M. Smith

Carol M. Smith Watkins Glen: Carol M. Smith, age 86, formerly of Watkins Glen, Town of Tyrone, NY died Tuesday September 28, 2021 at Seneca View Skilled Nursing Facility, in Montour Falls, NY. Honoring her wishes there are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held at the convenience of the family on a date to be announced. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Tyrone Volunteer Fire Dept., P.O. Box 69, Tyrone, NY 14887 Carol was born June 29, 1935 in Penn Yan, NY, the daughter of the late Stanley and Jane (Gauss) Stevens. On Feb. 25, 1956 in Painted Post, NY she married the late Donald A. Smith who passed away on January 3, 2016. A life-long area resident, Carol was a former employee of Westinghouse, in Bath, NY. After her retirement she enjoyed working in the vineyards and part time as a private duty housekeeper. Mrs. Smith was a very active member of the Wayne Baptist Church, the Tyrone Order of the Eastern Star; and the community "Mustard Seed" organization; she also loved her Card Club friends. She is survived and will be missed by her son Shawn A. (Cheryl) Smith of Watkins Glen; two daughters Heidi L. Smith of Horseheads, and Holly L. Somers (William) Tabron of Ithaca, NY; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer Smith who shared her birthday, Kyle Smith, Gavin and Tyler Button, Jasmine, Jeriqua and Joshua Somers, Jessica Harper, Amanda Chuhran, and Andrea Stephens; 18 great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, as well as in-laws on her husband's side of the family; and many very dear friends, and classmates. The family wishes to thank the wonderful loving nursing staff at Seneca View for the fantastic care and compassion given to Carol throughout her stay.
