Obituary of Candace L. Denton

Candace L. Denton Watkins Glen: Candace L. Denton, age 74, of Watkins Glen, NY passed away unexpectedly on October 14, 2021. She was born on January 27, 1947 in Montour Falls, NY, the first of five children of Colonel LeRoy M. Denton (USAF – Retired) and Natilee (Moon) Denton, who predeceased her. She began her pursuit of education as a kindergartener at Dundee Central School, then moved as her father served tours of duty in the USAF. She graduated from high school in Knob Noster, Missouri, then received her elementary education degree in 1973 from SUNY Geneseo and a masters degree in education from Elmira College in 1978. She then taught at Campbell/Savona Central School, formerly Savona Central School from 1973 to 2005. Over the years, she was involved in a variety of community organizations among them The Art Group and Red Hat Society. She loved playing games, and creating art including her own jewelry, making wreaths, and painting. She was also known for her excellent cooking skills. Candace enjoyed spending time with friends and family, preferably with a meal included. Additionally, one of her passions was Disney. She took frequent trips to Disney World with friends and family. Candace is survived by Joseph Lutomske, her beloved companion of 47 years; her siblings Vincent (Lillian) Denton of Riverview, Fl., Jerome (Donna) Denton, Keuka Lake, NY, Brenda (Sean) Keegan of Dundee, NY, and Laurie (William) Salser of Stuart, VA. She is also survived by nephews and nieces, Brandon Denton, Abigail Kellum, Candace Iszard, Kelsey Folckemer, Benjamin Salser, Shannon Salser, Lisa Tyra-Herrick and Kati Tyra and their families. Additionally, she is survived by Joe Lutomske's children and their families, Joseph Lutomske III and Rebecca Mayeaux; and close cousins Carol Robbins and Vicki Cadwell. She will be missed by her many additional cousins as well. A gathering of family and friends will be held at the Decoy Restaurant, 4576 Rt. 14, Rock Stream, NY on Monday, November 1, 2021 from 2 pm. – 6 pm. A grave site service will be held at the convenience of the family in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee, NY.
