Philip E. Miles Jr. Dundee: Philip E. Miles Jr., age 87, of Dundee, NY passed away on Sunday November 14, 2021 at F. F. Thompson Memorial Hospital, Canandaigua, N.Y.. Friends are invited to a calling hour from 11:30-12:30 p.m. Friday Nov. 19, 2021 at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee, NY. A graveside service with Military Honors will follow at 2:00 p.m. Friday in St. Peter & Paul Cemetery, 623 Franklin St, Elmira, NY. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion Bradley-Jessop Post 660, 10 Spring St., Dundee, NY 14837. Philip was born March 8, 1934 in Elmira, NY, the son of the late Philip E. and Susan R. (Levanduski) Miles Sr. He was educated in the Elmira Schools graduating in 1952. In his younger years he helped his parents with the family business of Phil's Boat Livery on Seneca Lake where they sold bait, tackle, gasoline and sundries. Mr. Miles proudly served as a Chef in the U.S. Army Reserves during the Korean War. A life long area resident, Phil was a butcher and longtime employee of TOPS Friendly Markets, in Elmira, NY, retiring in the early 1990's. He was a member of the former St. Andrews Catholic Church in Dundee. Mr. Miles was a devoted Legionnaire; and Life Member and Past Commander of the American Legion Bradley-Jessop Post 660, in Dundee, NY, with over 50 years of membership. He was a Past Chef de Gare of the 7th District of the 40 et 8 Society, and for 40 years his "Pride and Joy" was doing the Flag Education Program just before Memorial Day every year for 1st Graders throughout the schools of Yates County, and was featured and honored in the Dundee Observer newspaper on May 31, 2017. In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and cooking. He is survived by 3 nephews Richard B. (Alicia)Whitney III of Manchester, NY, twins Ronald Miles Whitney and Randy Miles Whitney both of Middlesex, NY; 3 great nephews Richard B. Whitney IV, Matthew Whitney, and Justin M. Whitney; 2 great nieces Emily S. Whitney and Jordan J. Whitney; along with numerous friends. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a sister Arlene R. Whitney on October 7, 2012.
