I want to express my deepest sympathy to Donn and the rest of the Gaebelein family on the loss of Norma. I arrived on the campus of The Westminster Schools as a new teacher in the fall of 1986, and from the very beginning, Norma was a cheerful, thoughtful, and encouraging influence in my life. Her effervescence and her very friendly demeanor were most welcomed as I made my way through my first few years at the school. It was always a pleasure to see her and to talk with her.
I am now in my thirty-sixth year of teaching at Westminster. I am most grateful to Donn for hiring me and to both Donn and Norma for being such positive influences on me. I pray that the Lord will bless Donn and the rest of the family with comfort and peace in the days ahead.
Thanks again, Donn and Norma!
Sincerely,
George Berry

Dear Donn and family,
Please accept our condolences as you grieve the loss of dear Norma. For those SBS years as Headmaster's wife, she was the light, life, laughter, and joy for those of us who knew her, learned from her.. Norma, of course, was the quintessential SBS matchmaker for those single faculty, and I had the privilege of being with Donn and Norma in their home as John and I "got to know each other". She had us married before we knew what was happening! And we are thankful for those 50 years.
John and I pray for peace for your family. With gratitude for a life well-lived, we honor Norma. With love, Alice and John Engstrom

I was a boarding student at the Stony Brook School from 1974-76. Every faculty member and their family had a different dinner table in the dining room, and every couple of weeks students would circulate to a different table. You’d think that being assigned to the Headmaster table would be intimidating, but Mrs. Gaebelein made that dining room table a special, coveted place through her warmth and knowing smile. You got the feeling that she knew everything about you but loved you anyway!! … kind of like … Jesus! As I went on to raise a family I appreciated how hard it must have been for faculty and their young families to be on point every night. What grace and kindness the SBS faculty and family — most of all Mrs. Gaebelein — extended to the teenage rascals at those tables. God bless the Gaebelein family as you deal with this great loss.

Remembering a happy and bubbly lady; a great hostess and welcome addition to any gathering. The light that shone from her was Jesus, her Savior. She must be the happiest of ladies right now. She can be with Him to celebrate His birthday. We will miss you though. D and R

I had the privilege of knowing Norma and Donn Gaebelein when I was at The Westminster Schools as a student and later as an employee there. Norma had such a happy spirit with a delightful sense of humor. I loved her fun "white elephant" gifting Christmas parties for faculty so much that I carried the tradition and her rules for it over into my family and friends' annual get-togethers for many years. She and Donn made Westminster a very special place for me during my time there. Donn, I send heartfelt condolences to you and your family. Marion Gaines Sturdivant, Atlanta, GA

Norma was a sweet picture of grace and beauty during my early years teaching at Westminster. She brought out the best in everyone and her presence certainly brightened the room! A life well-lived, a life missed now on earth but enjoying the splendor of God’s presence for eternity. Donn and family, I pray the Lord’s sustaining comfort will be yours in the coming days.

My sincere sympathy to Donn and family. I have so many fond memories of Norma, with teaching her the organ and just visiting with her. She was truly a gracious woman with a heart of gold. But now she is sharing that big heart with all the angels in heaven.

Norma will be missed. I remember that Norma and her sisters taught me how to swim. Such good memories of Fir Tree and Seneca Lake. Many years of memories from my time as a teen at Fir Tree to the times with Norma's grandchildren playing with Allison. She was a gracious and lovely person. My thoughts and prayers are with her family at this time. Thanks for the memories
