Judy E. Newell Penn Yan: Judy Eileen Newell, of Penn Yan, NY passed away the day after her 72nd birthday, Wednesday December 29, 2021 at Geneva General Hospital, in Geneva, New York. Honoring her wishes there are no calling hours. A Celebration of Her Life will be held starting at 1:00 p.m. with a pass the dish reception on Saturday June 11 at the Seneca Lake Duck Hunters Club Route 14 Dresden, NY. Inurnment in City Hill Cemetery will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Seneca Lake Duck Hunters Club c/o The Land Fund, P.O. Box 15, Dresden, NY 14441. Judy was born December 28, 1949 in Penn Yan, NY, a daughter of the late David Leroy and Gladys Alberta (Love)) Webster. Her father passed away when she was 5, so she was raised as one of his own, by her mother's second husband, the late Forest "Bruce" Rugg. She graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1968. On Jan. 4, 1969 in Geneva, NY she married Larry Charles Newell. Judy worked many different jobs throughout her life. The ones she will be most remembered for are having worked for 40 years at Star View Lanes in Penn Yan. Having first drove bus for Laidlaw before the school took over the busing program, Judy retired after 32 years of driving school bus for the Penn Yan School District in 2014. She was a member of the Ladies of the Penn Yan Moose Lodge. She dedicated countless hours throughout the years helping in numerous ways at the Seneca Lake Duck Club. Her greatest joys came from spending time with her family and enjoying all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren when she wasn't travelling with friends and family. She is loved and will be dearly missed by her husband of almost 53 years, Larry C. Newell at home; twin sons Larry D. Newell of Penn Yan, and Jon P. (Shanon) Newell of Niagara Falls, NY; 2 daughters Lori C. Donero of New Port Richey, FL, and Pamela J. (Tim) Newell/Hicks of Bellona, NY; 16 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 3 brothers David Webster of , FL, Bruce (Shureena) Rugg of AL, Robert (Sherry) Rugg of WI; 6 sisters Carol (Grady) Benifield of , WI, Sharon Hullings and Deborah Wood both of Penn Yan, Robin (Randall) Derr of S.C., Kim (Richard) Simpson of Penn Yan, Bonnie Harding of WI.; along with countless nieces, nephews, and friends. Besides her parents, and step dad, she was predeceased by a son Adam C. Newell on Jan. 10, 1974; and a grandson Christopher Newell on June 8, 2018.
