Obituary of Frances L. Nageldinger

Frances L. ''Sandy'' Axtell Nageldinger Dundee: Frances L. ''Sandy'' Axtell Nageldinger, age 84, of Dundee, NY died Monday December 10, 2012 at Schuyler Hospital, Montour Falls, N.Y.. Friends are invited to call from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday (Dec. 13) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where a funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Friday (Dec. 14) with Lay Pastor Priscilla Andrews officiating. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers the family respectfully request memorial contributions be made to the Dundee Fire Company Emergency Squad, 12 Union St., Dundee, 14837. Frances was born February14, 1928 in Bath, NY, the daughter of the late Ernest and Stella Bailey Johns. She was raised in the Ira Davenport Home for Girls in Bath until the age of sixteen, when she went to live with her sister Susie Harkness. In October of 1948 she married Lawrence Axtell with whom she had three children. A life long local resident, "Sandy" worked for several years as a Deck Builder for Penn Yan Boat Company in the mid 1960's. Which is where she met her second husband, and on Dec. 31, 1966 in Dundee, she married Floyd R. "Dick" Nageldinger, and instantly became the mother of 5 more children. After 28 years together, Floyd passed away on May 22, 1994. A loving mother and grandmother, who welcomed her children's friends into her home when they needed a safe place to stay; It was only natural to become a full time caregiver, working at the Hollister Street Veterans Home for many years, retiring in 2000. She is loved and will be dearly missed by 3 sons, Richard L. (Helen) Axtell Sr. with whom she made her home, Larry C. (Toni) Nageldinger, R. Dwyte Nageldinger both of Dundee; 2 daughters Barbara A. Champlin also of Dundee, Cathy E. Krnotch of Montour Falls; 20 grandchildren; 45 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
