Obituary of Donald L. Speers

Donald L. Speers Dundee: Donald L. Speers, age 94, of Dundee, NY died Thursday February 3, 2022 at Seneca Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, in Waterloo, NY. Friends are invited to call from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Tuesday (Feb. 8) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where his funeral service will be held at 3:00 pm with Lay Pastor Lew Ann Giles officiating and Air Force Honors. Burial will be private in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society PO Box 10727 Rochester, NY 14610. Donald was born June 15, 1927 in E. Wayland, NY, the son of the late Addison and Ethel (Rouse) Speers. He served in the U.S. Air Force Post WWII from 1947-1948. On June 27, 1959 in Pennsylvania he married the former Jean E. Harter, who passed away on Dec. 30, 2008. They had lived locally since 1989, previously of Gorham, NY. Mr. Speers was an Auto Technician for 36 years at Becker Motors, in Canandaigua, NY from 1953-1989. Not one to sit around Donald could not stay retired, so he worked for Finger Lakes Auto, and Gary's Cycle & Auto in Montour Falls until he was 78, finally retiring in 2005. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, pool and bowling in his younger years; and he always loved to tinker with motors, engines, motorcycles, atv's and dirt bikes. He is survived by a son Stanley R. Speers; and a grandson Todd L. (Jennifer) Speers both of Sodus, NY, a grandson Jason Speers of Canandaigua, NY; 2 grand daughters, Natasha (Ricky) Lonitz of Port Orange, FL, and Brittany (Vincent) Potesak of South Daytona, FL; several great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was pre-deceased by a son Donald J. Speers; a daughter in law Bonnie Speers; a brother Milton Speers; and 3 sisters Iona Everett, Beulah Burns, and Ida Schenck.
