Please share a memory of Colleen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Colleen A. (Butchie) Pratt DUNDEE: Colleen Agnes Pratt, fondly known as Butchie, passed away unexpectedly while visiting her brother and sister-in law on her annual winter trip to Florida on March 24, 2022. Colleen was the eighth child in a family of nine, born to Margaret Agnes "Mame" and Gordon L. Pratt on May 23, 1950. She picked up her nickname from her oldest brother Sonny on the day she was born. Colleen was a graduate of Dundee Central School and lived and worked in Rochester, New York for many years. Never one to be idle, she most recently worked as the head of housekeeping at the Showboat Motel in Himrod, New York. She returned to the Pratt family homestead on Main Street in Dundee for her retirement years. The red hanging geraniums on the front porch by Memorial Day and eye-catching front flower bed were a huge source of pride for her and a sure sign that summer was here. The same can be said of her colorful twinkling outside Christmas lights and having her always real Christmas tree up as soon as fresh-cut trees could be had, lit up in the big front window. Her sister Jody, niece Gretchen, and great niece Meggie, with whom she made her home, will do our best to keep these traditions going. The greatest role of her life was that as a sibling and as Aunt Butchie to her nieces and nephews. This also grew to include their friends and children as time marched on. She is well-remembered for the phrase "my house my rules" to the delight of children and chagrin of adults as that meant all the junk food indulgences and shenanigans you can possibly imagine were about to ensue. Sister Colleen and Aunt Butchie was a legendary gift giver and giver of cards-always on time and always remembered. She was never the seeker of the spot-light, but was the one person you could always count on to show up at every event, early (she hated being late), never showing up empty handed, pitch in unasked, and would give you whatever you needed-no questions asked. She is survived by her sister-in law Judy Roberts Pratt, sister Sharon Viscardi, brother Thomas (Phyllis) Pratt, sister Sheila (Roger) Bassett, sister Mary Ann Stout, sister Jo Ellen (Jody) Pratt Edmister, sister Bridget (Don) Walsh, numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother Bernie, father Gordon, brother Gordon (Sonny), brother-in-law Dominic (D) Viscardi, brother-in-law Robert (Bob) Stout, mother Margaret Agnes "Mame", and her beloved shelties Murphy and Sophie. A private memorial service and public celebration of life to be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks you grab a glass of red wine (good box wine was ok by Butchie), wear your best Buffalo Bills gear, put on your flip-flops and some Frank Sinatra, and enjoy the sunshine by a beautiful body of water. Arrangements entrusted to the Baird Funeral Home 36 Water St. Dundee, NY; to share memories and condolences with the family visit bairdfuneralhomedundee.com.
