Shirley J. Cleveland Dundee: Shirley J. Cleveland, age 77, of Dundee, NY passed away peacefully at home on Saturday May 14, 2022. Calling hours will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday May 19, at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where her funeral service will be held at 12:00 noon on Friday May 20. Burial will follow in Hillside Cemetery, Dundee. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Dundee Fire Company or Emergency Squad 12 Union St. Dundee, NY 14837. Shirley was born Feb, 2, 1945 in Elmira, NY, the daughter of the late Elwood Voorhees and Marietta (Cady) Kuroczka. On May 5, 1962 in Towanda, PA she married the late David W. Cleveland Sr. who passed away on Feb. 17, 2022. Shirley was always on the go, as a member of the Altay Baptist Church, a Full-fledged Journeyman for 7 years, the 1st woman in NY State to be a Form/Bridge Carpenter, a former member of Local Carpenters Brotherhood of Binghamton. Both politically and historically as a member of the Republican Task Force; member of the Oliver House, the Dundee Historical Society, and the Montour Historical Society. Passionately as a Lifetime Member of the North American Hunting Club. Her hobbies were many and varied; number one being her beloved grandchildren. She also enjoyed genealogy, collecting local history, photography & videography, baking & cooking, camping, boating, fishing, and was a successful avid big game huntress. Shirley loved being a mother and grandmother; foster parenting 17 children in a 10 year span. She opened her home to so many people throughout the years especially to her children's friends. She was patient and loving with a heart of gold. In her later years she spent a lot of time with her three dogs who she loved fiercely; Brandy predeceased her, Rosie & Jade were always by her side right to the end. She is loved and will be forever missed by her 3 children, Carl Wayne (Mildred P.) Cleveland, Joy Lynn Cleveland Perry, Thomas Bruce (Christina M.) Cleveland, Son-in-law Ronald A. Perry, like a son John W. Burritt, all of Dundee; 11 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several siblings, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband, she was pre-deceased by son Daniel Mark Cleveland, grandson Adam Daniel Smith, granddaughter Maranda Cleveland, a daughter Sandra Lee Smith and her husband, son-in-law Ross Edward Smith.
