We would especially like to thank our Hospice nurse, Karen Strickland, for all of her help and her caring heart during the 3 months Mom was with us. Virginia 'Ginny' was born February 3, 1930 in Penn Yan, NY. She was the daughter of the late William Earl and Golda McCallum. She spent a lot of her childhood traveling back and forth from Webb Mills, NY and many different areas of Texas. She enjoyed being the little sister to her one big sister and 5 brothers during her adolescent years. They were very special to her and she spoke of them often in her final days. At the age of about 16 she went to work at F.W. Woolworth. There she met a handsome young man, Jim, who had returned from serving in the army in WWII. He also was an employee of the Woolworth company. In her words "he seemed to visit my candy counter a lot!" This was the beginning of a precious relationship that lasted for 57 years of marriage and now continues on through eternity. They were married December 19, 1948 on a very snowy day at the Mosherville Baptist Church, in Mosherville, PA. The Reverend J.T.M. Wilson officiated. Ginny was a Mother who devoted her life to nurturing, counseling, listening and praying with and for her family. She was always there when her children arrived home from school to ask about their day and give them a hug. She was a woman of strong faith in her Lord and Savior and she never hesitated to share her faith with her children and grandchildren over the many years. Her family feels Blessed to have had such a loving Christian Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother in their lives. She'll be forever in their hearts and memories. Mr. and Mrs. Thomas were former members of North Presbyterian Church in Elmira, NY and attended Maranatha Bible Chapel for many years. She will be dearly missed by her daughter and "Best Friend Forever" Virginia (Roy) Slusser of Himrod, NY; son James (Mary) Thomas of Horseheads, NY; Grandsons Craig (Karen) Slusser of Cranberry TWP, PA; Shaun (Erica) Slusser of Dillsburg PA; Great Grandchildren Bryan, Amanda, Jonathan and Elianna Slusser.
