Patricia K 'Pat' Wolverton
Penn Yan, NY/Swansboro, NC: Patricia K. 'Pat' Wolverton, age 87, of Penn Yan, NY and Swansboro, NC passed away Monday January 30, 2023 at her home in Swansboro, N.C.
Patricia was born July 12, 1935 in Corning, NY, the daughter of the late Oscar and Ethel Kirk. She graduated high school from Corning Free Academy and obtained her RN degree from Alfred University, where she met and married Richard 'Dick' Wolverton on December 21st, 1956.
Pat's career in nursing spanned many years of dedicated patient care on the maternity unit at Corning Hospital, to educating future nurses at Corning Community College. She enjoyed spending her summer months at her home on Seneca Lake, and wintering in the coastal town Swansboro, NC. Pat was a member of the Penn Yan and Swansboro United Methodist churches, and enjoyed many volunteering and social activities. Her most treasured activity, however, was spending time with family and friends.
Preceded in death, by her beloved husband Dick Wolverton in 2016; she is loved and will be forever missed by her son Brian (Maura) Wolverton of Rock Stream, NY; 2 daughters Carol (Scott) Johnston of Jacksonville, NC, Janice "Jan" (Jeff) Taylor of Cary, NC; 5 grandchildren Aaron (Cecily Meade) Johnston, Rachel (Tom) Brader, Rebekah (David Helfand) Johnston, Renee (Evan Earle) Wolverton, and Jessica Taylor.
Friends are invited to calling hours from 2:00 – 4:00 pm Thursday (Feb. 9) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water Street, Dundee; where her funeral service will be held at 4:00 pm with Rev. Kristen Roth Allen officiating. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday (Feb. 10) at Hope Cemetery, in Corning, NY.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Penn Yan United Methodist Church 166 Main St. Penn Yan, NY 14527 or to Swansboro United Methodist Church 665 W. Corbett Ave. Swansboro, NC 28584 or to the Hem of his Garment 724 W. Corbett Ave. Swansboro, NC 28584.
