Robert L. Mann Dundee: Robert L. Mann, of Dundee, a high-ranking lay leader of the North Central New York Conference of the Methodist Church and nicknamed by church colleagues "Mr. Methodist," died suddenly at home in good health December 30, 2012, age 91. Calling hours will be from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, (Jan. 3) at the Baird Funeral Home, 36 Water St. Dundee; A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m Friday (Jan. 4) at the Dundee United Methodist Church with Rev. Sheila Price officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church 35 Water St. Dundee, 14837. Born March 10, 1921 in Varick, New York, Mann married a Methodist, the late Norma Rarrick of Dundee, on July 10, 1945, in the Dundee Methodist Church. The union produced two sons, Paul and Philip. A decorated Army-Air Force World War II veteran, Mann took up increasingly senior leadership roles as Geneva District Lay Leader (1963-1971), Conference Council Chairman (1970-1972), Delegate to the World Methodist Council (Denver, 1971) and Delegate to the General Conferences in Atlanta (1972) and Portland, Oregon (1976). He was elected to General Conferences five times spanning 20 years. Awarded a Life Membership in United Methodist Men in 1989, Mann was named a John Wesley Fellow of the North Central New York Conference in 2002. Mann was elected repeatedly to the Dundee Central School Board of Education and is listed in the Official Registry of World War II veterans enshrined at Washington National Cathedral, Washington, D.C. He held successive positions at the former Shepard Niles Crane and Hoist Company, Montour Falls. He is survived by his sons Paul of California, and Philip (Karen) Mann of Keuka Park; sister-in-law, Inez, of Liverpool and many nieces and nephews who reside in the area and nationwide.
