Ronald G. Wixson Dundee: Ronald G. Wixson, age 65, of Dundee, NY left this world without a final goodbye on Saturday August 24, 2024 at Strong Memorial Hospital, in Rochester, NY. "Ronnie" was born April 17, 1959 in the town of Urbana, the first son of the late Mahlon G. and Katherine L. (Williams) Wixson. He graduated from Penn Yan Academy in 1978; enlisting in the U.S. Army that same year, Ron served in several locations for the next 7 years. Honorably discharged in 1985; Ron returned to the Finger Lakes. His work history started in the Maintenance Departments for Penn Yan School's, followed by Seneca Foods, for many years. Ron's caring helpful nature, led him into the caregiving field with the ARC of Yates. He wore many hats, from private duty home care, to security for Dundee's Speedway. It wasn't until later in life, Ron followed his love of cooking, to become a chef at Veraisons at the Inn at Glenora. When Ron wasn't working, you could usually find him dedicating his time helping the American Legion, where throughout the years, he has held every single officers position including Past Commander for the Dundee Legion Bradley-Jessop Post #660. Ronnie loved working at the track, he loved NASCAR, rooting for Kyle Busch and M&M's team; football meant NFL Rams, and for college it was the Pack Ten, and pulling for the Oregon Ducks. He loved collecting Black Bears, and known to very few, he was a talented drawer; who also was good at cooking, he was so proud the year he won the American Legion Meatball cooking contest. He will be dearly missed by his brother William C. Wixson of Middlesex, NY; sister Lori J. (Donald) Wixson-Dombroski of Dundee, his favorite niece Karen (Joseph) Trautman of Penn Yan, and dearly loved nephews Jeremy R. (Leah Galens) Trank of Dundee, and Derek S. Trank of Penn Yan, great nephew Bradley VanBuren; and great niece Kendra Trank, along with countless friends and acquaintances. Besides his parents, Ronnie joins two pre-deceased sisters, Susan Wixson and Donna J. Johnson, and her son nephew Larry F. Eaves. There are no prior calling hours. He will be entombed privately with Military Honors in Bath National Cemetery. Friends and family are invited to a Celebration of His Life from 12:00 noon – 4:00 p.m. Sunday Sept. 8, at the Dundee American Legion, 10 Spring St. Dundee, NY, with a memorial service at 1:00 p.m. with Lay Pastor Lew Ann Giles officiating.
