Elizabeth Boesen posted a condolence
Saturday, October 26, 2024
I'm Elizabeth Ebinger Boesen, and was both hospice chaplain, volunteer trainer for spiritual care, and volunteer coordinator for Ontario Yates Hospice. Eli and several other ambulance volunteers volunteered in hospice care as well. Eli and his colleagues took the training all about the same time and came to be relied on faithfully for serving patients and families with sensitivity, skill, and grace. In some ways Eli seemed to me timeless, as even after I left OYH, we'd meet from time to time, and he was always serving others with integrity and sharing his own insights from trying experiences, which he occasionally shared with me. I'm sure patients and families were richer for his being there, and I know I am.

I will cherish the memory of the time my husband David and I visited Eli and Ruth in their home in New York.
Eli told us the story of how he kicked the sugar habit and felt so much better. To this day we go very light on sugar and sweet desserts.
We also enjoyed their stories of serving in Puerto Rico, where David and I also helped with a post hurricane house construction. He truly leaves a legacy of loving service whether at home or abroad.

We remember Eli as happy, welcoming, and outgoing.
When we visited Lakeland Church one Sunday morning, he invited us for lunch at their house. We enjoyed the meal with him and his wife and a few other families. One thing I remember talking about at the table is that he is a descendent of the boy in the book "My Ocean is Wide".
To the family, may God be near and comfort you in your time of sorrow.
Love and prayers,
James and Mary High and family

I remember Eli while helping to build Crystal Valley Church in the early 80's. His leadership as the walls were set and the rafter lifted up toward the end of the first day. I began wiring the walls as the roof was put on. We lost a dear brother. our sympathy to wife and children.
The Lord delights in he death of His saints
Let us pray for each other, Daniel Fisher
